Ismael Essome the founding president and CEO of Madiba&Nature Pitching the Ecoboat project to the Ocean Solutions Sprint semi-final at the World Economic Forum which welcomed 11 entrepreneurs, a prestigious jury and the entire UpLink community for a virtual workshop and presentation competition.
This virtual workshop facilitated the connection of ocean passionate experts, innovators, investors and change makers, provided expert advice to inspire the ocean community and will conclude with a presentation competition that will select the six finalists who will represent UpLink in the World Economic Forum’s virtual ocean dialogues.
UpLink is a digital crowd-engagement platform bringing together key stakeholders who are championing and impacting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): young change-makers, social innovators, thematic experts, investors and technology titans. The platform was launched this spring with the Ocean Solutions Sprint; a content which sourced ~50 entrepreneurial solutions from 15+ countries, responding to the most pressing challenges facing the ocean today.
Who is Ismael Essome
Ismael Essome has over 5 years of experience in Environment Management and Recycling. Currently, Ismael is The founder President of Madiba & Nature, a non-profit organization that addresses the issue of pollution. He is the genius behind the plastic boat commonly known as “ECOBOAT” that promotes the circular economy and the ecotourism in Kribi and reduces plastic pollution through utilizing recycled plastic bottles. He’s also involved in a program of environmental education with schools and Universities in Cameroon.
Ismael holds an engineering degree in environment management, and a Rutgers Sustainability Leadership Certification in Decision Making for Environmentally Sustainable Supply Chains. Ismael is committed to address the issue of plastic pollution while supporting the fishing community in need in Cameroon.
Ismael is a Mandela Washington Fellows Alumni and a UN 2018 Cleansea AWARD for the International Marine litter Conference of San Diego; he’s also a One Young World Ambassador.
